ILGA-Europe is in a process of building a new and modern website. We want you to be a part of it, as we want to show who we represent --> you, as one of the millions of LGBTI people in Europe. We have already received great images of LGBTI people from all over Europe, though mostly of individuals. So we are calling for more images of LGBTI families, couples, friends - in your home, everyday settings and work/community environment.

Bias motivated violence

ILGA-Europe announces a call for project proposals dedicated to the reinforcement or to the development of new cooperation models between LGBTI NGOs and public authorities to tackle homophobic and transphobic crime. This call is supported by the government of the Netherlands. Deadline for applications: 15 September 2014.

Employment

|
A gay religion teacher from Spain's Canary Islands who recently wrote a letter to one of Spain's major newspapers praising local religious authorities for their tolerance was fired from his job.
|
|
An amendment to the Maltese Employment and Industrial Relations Act has made it illegal for employers to reject trans people for a job solely because of their gender identity. Moroever it is now also illegal to harass a trans person employer, employee or colleague on the ground of their gender identity.

Equality and non-discrimination

The Council of Europe has launched a multimedia presentation of activities and reports on the 2014 progress of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex and queer fight against discrimination.

Bi Visibility Day has been marked each year since 1999 to highlight biphobia and to help people find the bisexual community. This day is a call for the bisexual community, their friends and supporters to recognise and celebrate bisexuality, bisexual history, bisexual community and culture, and all the bisexual people in their lives.

Family

A recent Gallup poll interviewed 600 people on their views towards same-sex marriage. 61% of respondents say they support same-sex marriage, while 32% of respondents say they are against and the rest say that they don't know.

Freedom of expression
|
|
Two Lithuanian commercial TV channels refused to air a video clip produced by Lithanian Gay League. The video clips aimed at changing the negative attitudes of the public towards the LGBT community.
