Study visit to OSCE and KPH

On 2-6 October ILGA-Europe organsied a study visit for 10 activists from the Western Balkans and Russia to the Organzation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and to Campaign Against Homophobia (KPH) - the leading LGBT organisation in Poland. The study visit was organised within the framework Step Up! project and Russian EIDHR project.

Turkish translation of the main parts of the report 'Discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity in Europe'

The Council of Europe has translated the main part of the report 'Discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity in Europe' into Turkish.

Openly gay man and transgender woman in the Polish Parliament
At the October 2011 parliamentary elections, Robert Biedron became the first openly gay Member of the Parliament, and Anna Grodzka the first trans person elected as a Member of the Parliament in Poland. Both will be at the ILGA-Europe Annual Conference 2011 as keynote speakers.

United Nations

Submit information for the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) on Finland, United Kingdom, Poland and the Netherlands
The second UPR cycle will begin with the 13th UPR session in May 2012. For that purpose, NGOs in Finland, United Kingdom, Poland and the Netherlands are invited to submit their contributions as early as November 2011.

The Belgrade Pride 2011 march, which was planned to take place on Sunday 2 October, has been banned by the Serbian National Security Council.

Earlier this month, the Muncipality of Minsk banned the Pride event in Minsk.

A young woman was attacked in downtown Belgrade, Serbia, for wearing a t-shirt with LGBT symbols.

The National Council in Switzerland says “NO” to the petition “Equal Opportunities for All Families”

The National Council of Switzerland rejected of the proposed petition called “Equal Opportunities for All Families”. This vote continues the discrimination of Swiss LGBTI families.
