Host a Workshop at ILGA-Europe Annual Conference 2023

The programme of ILGA-Europe Annual Conference 2023 is now open for contributions from participants. Submit a workshop proposal by September 10, 2023 (23:59 Brussels time). Please note that we can accept workshop proposals only from approved conference participants. We will come back to all the applicants by September 19.

This year, the Conference programme will be built around two overarching themes. Firstly, under the topic Resilience of the Movement, we will continue the vital conversation around how we keep our work sustainable, resourced, focused and strategic in an environment marked by crisis and external pulls and pressures.

Secondly, under the topic of Solidarity and Cohesion Within the Movement, we will ask ourselves how do we foster a sense of unity, collective identity and shared purpose as a movement to allow us to work effectively together towards shared goals, in the face of external challenges.

Find more information about the Conference here. Take a look at the preliminary list of workshops that will be offered at the Conference by ILGA-Europe here.

Does your organisation have experiences, ideas and questions that will help explore the Conference themes and will enrich the workshop’s programme?

Can you come together with other organisations to bring a workshop to the Conference?

Join in and send a workshop proposal. We have reserved 8-10 sessions in the programme for participant-led workshops.

There are several parameters that are important for the programme at the Annual Conference. Please make sure that your proposal ticks them off.

All workshops need to:

  • Address one or both themes of the Annual Conference;
  • Be joint workshops co-organised by at least two organisations and bring together speakers/ hosts/ contributors offering a diverse range of experiences/ geographies from across the movement;
  • Take into account the workshops that are already part of the programme of the Conference (check here.);
  • Contain an element that encourages connections or exchange of opinions and experiences between participants;
  • Be open to all and any participants of the Annual Conference;
  • Come from approved Conference participants.

What kind of a workshop can it be?

We welcome workshop proposals that explore the themes of the conference by:

  • Guiding a reflection about shared concerns and ways forward for the movement;
  • Bringing together important, overlooked, and/or inspiring perspectives and experiences in relation to one of the key topics of the Annual Conference;
  • Helping to generate ideas and learn from each other;
  • Holding space for critical and challenging conversations about what we have to work on as a movement.

NB If you have an idea of the workshop in mind but do not know who else might be interested in joining the knowledge and perspective around particular topic together, let us know via the application form.

We may suggest merging some of the workshops in case there are similar or interconnected proposals coming from different groups or organisations.

If you have any questions about the call for contributions or need support with your proposal and this form, send a message to svetlana@ilga-europe.org
